We are a small operation based out of the Pacific north with that has built many undergrounds in the past 20 years. None of the Undergrounds that we have built have ever leaked water, even with receiving one of the highest levels of rainfall in the United States per year.
These are some of the nicest & strongest Undergrounds we’ve found over the years and nobody builds them quite like us due to our experience which has given us more wisdom than money can buy!
We sincerely look forward to assisting you with your project! Here are a few questions to ask yourself before contacting us!
What is your budget? We ask this straight up. We want to work with you with realistic goals in mind. A lot of people think they will be able to build a massive underground for less than $100,000. Realistically, a starting price to have a contractor build your structure of let’s say about 500SQFT is going to cost you at least $100,000. And that is just to get the shell in place covered in with an entry door, etc..
Also, remember you could do this for about half the price if you do all the contracting yourself and sub out all of the areas that you need help with.We can assist you to build a smaller 12x20FT storm shelter if you’re in a Tornado or Hurricane Zone that will be much more comfortable and DIY for construction minded people. A lot will be dependent on depth of your water table especially closer to large bodies of water.
There are dozens of factors that could increase the cost of structure from $100k to 350k+ depending first the size of the structure, your soil type, how deep a well for water would need to be drilled, if you desire solar, or bring power to the site, the structure size (Quonset or Viking Shelter Design), how far you are from a concrete plant, and additional endless variables that could drastically decrease or increase construction.

Viking Shelter Design
We will only be offering up to 20FT wide Viking Shelter Tunnel Pipes. Then we’re going to recommend a Quonset Hut structure if you want to go wider.
But in both cases, remember these buildings are just a shell and are not structural. They are meant to be spray foamed and then the Shotcrete and Helix Steel is added to engineered specifications.
We will be providing different building designs for a 12‘ x 40‘ and up to 20ft wide.
When calculating the height , cut the width in half and add 3 feet is pretty accurate.
So for example, a 16FT wide structure would be 8ft +3 feet equaling about 11 feet tall.

Quonset Hut Design
The Quonset Hut Design requires a lot more labor to construct, the structure/form cannot be a specific color on the inside. The Quonset Hut acts as a form for our concrete system and this form costs approximately double cost of the Viking Shelter Design form.

Underground Viking Shelters Design
Our newest and original design of our underground shelter design.
A design that is more cost effective, labor saving, and one of the easiest processes that any contractor with home building experience, could achieve with our guidance.
What we’ve created is an alternative ahead of prefab steel drop in boxes. That give you much more room and comfort for considerably less cost.We at Viking Shelters encourage our customers to be their own contractors and follow all of our step-by-step videos, and all of our content to make it easy and understandable to do it yourself.
We will also advise those who desire to not do this themselves. We can be a part of the whole process, including securing local contractors in your area and consultation through every step directly from Viking Shelters.

Underground Quonset Hut Shelters
We built a handful of Quonset Hut Underground Shelters before 2012 or so. Due to the massive increase in cost of Quonset Hut Structures, we decided to design a new structure without the massive expensive of a Quonset Hut.
Remember, essentially this is just a Form.
Neither one design is structural. It is just a form for the spray foam and the Shotcrete mixed with Helix Steel or rebar.
These latter steps are what the strength of the structure is all about. However, we give you the option to have a Quonset hut inside or our specific design Viking shelter design.
The main advantage of choosing the Viking Shelters design really comes down to cost and ease of erection. The Viking Shelters design is about half the physical cost of a Quonset hut, design for the body and form itself.
